Trey Gowdy to Rod Rosenstein is All of America Right Now
The United States of America could succinctly be summed up by three separate camps when it comes to the investigation of Donald Trump led by Robert Mueller. One group is eager to see the demise of Donald Trump as they are convinced of his guilt. Another group is looking forward to the investigation being exposed as a “witch hunt.” The final group could care less about the outcome and more that justice is served. What every group has in common was perfectly stated by Representative Trey Gowdy while addressing Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein. Namely, “hurry the hell up.” All of America is longer for resolution and America could not have said it any better than Trey Gowdy did last week.
America Demands Resolution
While addressing Rosenstein, Gowdy went to clarify “We’ve seen the bias, we need to see the evidence. If you have any evidence of wrongdoing by any member of the Trump campaign, present it to the damn grand jury. If you have evidence that this President acted inappropriately, present it to the American people.” What Gowdy was referring to was the recent revelations on the role of Peter Strzok. An agent originally assigned to the Mueller investigation, Strzok was caught texting to another agent about a plan to “hinder and undo” a Trump Presidency. On its face this is explicit bias at its finest.
While it remains to be seen whether this bias manifested itself into any concrete action, Gowdy is right. America has seen the obvious bias of those involved in the investigation and yet, we are still asking for justice. If there is evidence of wrongdoing, then the time to present it to the American people is drawing nigh. For all we have to go off of right now is the bias.
Gowdy also fairly represented the views of the majority of Americans by not letting Trump off the hook. It is clear that if Trump did something, Gowdy wants it known and for the official judicial process to play out. There might be an element of the citizenry that would offer Trump a pass for any wrongdoings, but the vast-majority are more interested in justice. Until America sees the evidence and all we can see is the bias it is hard not to view this investigation as a grave injustice.
It is Time for an Answer
I understand this is likely a complicated investigation that spans the intelligence agencies of multiple nations. Clandestine activities are supposed to be hard to discover any collusion with a foreign government would certainly fall into that category. But it is time to “hurry the hell up” as Gowdy stated. Specifically, Gowdy clarified “Whatever you got, finish it the hell up, because this country is being torn apart.”
Gowdy is correct again in that this investigation is taking a toll on this nation. Splitting households, social groups and political parties, the stakes of this investigation are so big that the stress is making an impact. The thought that your duly elected President is being persecuted or that your duly elected President is a traitor is no small matter. America needs an answer and the sooner the better. If Trump is innocent and the actions to influence our election were solely taken by Russia, then Putin could have hoped for no better outcome than the discord this is creating in America. The time to act is drawing nigh and Americans deserve, need and are pleading for an answer. Thank you to Trey Gowdy for speaking truth to power on behalf of all Americans. Wherever you stand on the investigation, we are all ready for it to end.
